bird - 2005

Bird

Here I sit
in this healing place
wanting to speak
wanting to hear
my tongue tied in
impatient knots
my breath held.
Silence the little boy in you
the little girl in me
come to regret
our immaturity
the many silent glances
in and out
and in I go to read
your stoic lips.
The bird sings sweetly
on the windowsill
it whispers a secret
into my ear
Can you hear it?
Can you be?

internal music - 2005

Internal Music

Written inside a dark space
sharply accenting the edge of me
pausing, a rest between
I wonder
I wait
I sit
I settle
the scale tips leaving me unsteady
I stumble through the place
blind to my own melody
deaf to my own song
a jumble of notes
a series of discords
I tune to a frequency that resonates in my soul
and harmonically converge
with something I do not understand
the song rewinds and plays with a minor variation
never resolving, endlessly repeating.

beneath there is a room - a new poem

Beneath there is a Room

Beneath there is a room that I live in
It keeps me warm and safe
Are you going to come and visit?
There is enough space for two
I will give you tea and cookies
And listen to your stories
You can leave when you are ready
And I will dance until you return

starlight over the new forest - a new poem

Starlight over the New Forest

Starlight over the new forest
in a time without end
the trees are turning to stars
and the stars are turning to trees
the time that went is no longer now
the time to come is no longer still
the time I had is a time of sorrow
the time I stayed to the time I left
the time I took was the thing I lost
the thing I took was the time it cost
I no longer know what the time is
when the time itself is the thing I lost
the thing I took was the time it cost
and now I know what to take from loss.

real life - a new poem

Real Life

Feel your real life coming,

You are ready to emerge.
Leave the old behind.
Know that you don't need it.
There is a whole lot of life to be lived.
