hi everyone

Hi everyone,
These are some of my old poems plus a new one for you to read.
Kirsteen

real life - a new poem

Real Life

Feel your real life coming,

You are ready to emerge.
Leave the old behind.
Know that you don't need it.
There is a whole lot of life to be lived.

opinions - 2009

Opinions

Me opinionated?
Let me tell you -
I know a thing or two.
You might dismiss me,
Make assumptions.
You'd be wrong.
I watch and listen,
It's my way.
The things I see and hear,
You'd not believe.
You bet I have opinions.
Wanna know?

ballgames - 2009

Ballgames

Ballgames are boring.
It doesn't matter if
The ball is
Big or small,
Hard or soft,
Round or curved,
Ballgames bore me
Stiff

transformation - 1998

Transformation

Trapped in a cocoon,

I am living my life slowly.

I am dreaming of the butterfly
I want to become,
I am hearing the words
I want to say,
I am believing the hopes
I have dared to hope,
I am feeling the experience

Of being isolated and alone.

I want to break out of this darkness.

I am trapped in the cocoon,

Waiting to become the butterfly
I am meant to be.

a life i live -1994

A Life I Live

Pain cuts through me
A knife tears at the heart
The brain resigns to being alone
Losses, life if full of nothing but losses
A single tear falls remembering the happy times
So far and few between
Anger not understood, only felt
Time wasting as words go unheard
A life of silence
A life of pain
A life with few real friends
A life I live.

i am me - 1994

I Am Me

Watching, always watching,
People just pass by.
Oh, they notice alright,

But what they see is not me.

They see a wheelchair,

They see a body that to them is hopeless,

They see a body and then they say, "Oh, poor
thing."
They, society, have not seen me.

I am a person who thinks, feels and lives.

I am a writer.
I am a student.
And when given a chance I am
a friend.
I am a person like you.
I cry, laugh and get mad.

True, I do need some extra help but I am still a person.
When you look at me, look at the person.
I am not a wheelchair.
I am not handicapped.
And I am not an object for display.
I AM A PERSON.
I AM ME.

freedom - 1994

Freedom

Flying high above us
Lost souls among them.

Spirits so free,
A freedom we could only hope for.
Birds, in danger so unknowingly...

Death in an instant.

Birds, a symbol of freedom,
The takers of sorrow.
Birds, earth's gift to show us life as it should be,
A life with no boundaries.
